I'll overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Paul - Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be shown in real-time on Netflix.
Briton Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the pair met personally to publicize the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Former two time world boxing king Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's venue on December 19th.
Fighter's Attitude
"I plan to injure his face and break his body up. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35, said.
"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I intend to really want to injure him. That's my intention."
Respectful Exchange
Despite those words, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally famous for his theatrics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after Ngannou rejected a bout proposal.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British opponent Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.
"I acknowledge that."
Legitimate Opponent
In spite of declaring he will damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to speak negatively about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he said.
Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.
He was defeated by British fighter Fury in last year.
Commercial Attraction
However, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's largest money-making draws, frequently receiving substantial financial rewards.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old predicted a knockout win in round four or five and asserted he would prevent the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly in the works for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul stated.
Size Disparity
As both boxers met for the traditional stare-down, with their physical disparity evident, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is truly proceeding.
